What type of chile is it when you buy Ortega (canned) green chiles?

When I make certain dishes I top them with Ortega diced green chiles. But I am wondering what type of chile is it? My latino friends cook frequently with different types of chiles (serrano, poblano,etc.). But all my life me my family just buy Ortega green chiles. Am I showing my whiteness? LOL. Anyone out there know the answer? Thank you!!
Actually, I should have said that I am showing my lack of cooking knowledge ; ) Being white has nothing to do with it, lol. I just am still learning to cook — sad but true …

Where does the heat come from in chile peppers?

How much is one medium jalapeno chile?

I have a recipe that calls for one medium jalapeno chile, stemmed, seeded and minced. But I could not find this ingredient at the grocery store. Instead, I bought a small can of chopped green chiles. Granted, what I bought won’t have the same bite as the jalapeno. But my question is how much should I use? The can is 4.5 ounces. How many ounces would make up one medium jalapeno chile, stemmed, seeded and minced?
