What type of chile is it when you buy Ortega (canned) green chiles?

When I make certain dishes I top them with Ortega diced green chiles. But I am wondering what type of chile is it? My latino friends cook frequently with different types of chiles (serrano, poblano,etc.). But all my life me my family just buy Ortega green chiles. Am I showing my whiteness? LOL. Actually, I should have said that I am showing my lack of cooking knowledge ; ) Being white has nothing to do with it, lol. I just am still learning to cook — sad but true …
