What are the best Surf towns and breaks in Chile?

RunTex asked:

A few of us are taking a surf trip down to South America this summer, specifically Ecuador, Peru and Chile.
Does anyone have any good towns and breaks they can share with us and or any other tips?

This year the Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards, in the Monster Paddle category for the biggest wave caught without the help of a jet ski was won by Diego Medina for a massive gray wall caught off the Punta Lobos point in Pichilemu.#
Pichilemu is a quiet small town, about 3 hours from Santiago with very good waves. The only problem is that water is quite cold.

You can also go to Arica (playa Las Machas) or Iquique, in the north, where the water is warmer.

Maybe you can check Lonely Planet or similar for more information.

In Ecuador, you have to go to Montanita. That’s where every surfer goes.
    In Chile, go to Pichilemu.

I’ve never been in Peru, so I can’t really tell.
